FAQ
How do I book your string trio and secure my date?
Booking our London string trio is simple and stress-free. Once we have confirmed availability for your date, we will send you a short booking form to complete. After the details are confirmed, we will issue an invoice for a 25% deposit, which secures your booking.
The remaining balance is due 21 days before the event. For bookings made within three weeks of the performance date, full payment is required at the time of booking.
We accept both bank transfer and credit card payments (a 2% transaction fee applies to card payments).
What’s the difference between a string trio, quartet and duo?
Our string trio typically consists of either two violins and cello or violin, viola and cello, offering a rich and balanced sound that works beautifully for weddings, drinks receptions and corporate events.
A string quartet adds an additional musician, creating the fullest and most layered sound of the three ensemble options. Quartets are particularly popular for larger spaces, grand venues and events where a bigger sound is desired.
A string duo, usually violin and cello, offers a more intimate and minimal sound while still creating an elegant atmosphere.
A string trio sits perfectly between the intimacy of a duo and the fullness of a quartet, making it one of the most versatile choices for weddings and events of all sizes.
Is a string trio loud enough for a wedding or event?
Yes — a professional string trio is more than capable of providing a rich and elegant acoustic sound for most weddings and receptions.
Our trio is ideally suited to medium-sized weddings and receptions of up to around 120 guests. It produces a warm, balanced sound that carries beautifully in typical indoor venues, including ceremony spaces, country houses and hotel reception rooms.
For larger spaces, high-ceiling venues, or events with over 120–150 guests, we may recommend a string quartet or subtle amplification to ensure the best possible sound coverage.
Every venue is different, so we are always happy to advise on the most suitable ensemble based on your space and guest numbers.
How much does it cost to hire a string trio in London?
Our string trio bookings typically start from £620, depending on the duration, location and requirements of your event.
Each quote is tailored individually, so pricing can vary based on factors such as performance time, travel and any additional requests. Please get in touch for a personalised quote.
Is booking time based on playing time or total time at the venue?
Booking time is based on the total time reserved at the venue, rather than just the playing time. This runs continuously from the beginning of the first performance until the end of the final set, including any breaks and time between performances.
For example, if you require music for your ceremony from 1–2pm and then again for your wedding breakfast from 4–6pm, the booking would cover the full 1–6pm period.
Set-up and pack-down time are not included in your booking time. We always arrive in advance to ensure everything is ready before performances begin.
How long do you play for and how do breaks work?
Our performances are usually arranged in sets of approximately 45–60 minutes. For bookings longer than one hour, we include short breaks of around 10 minutes between sets so the musicians can perform at their best throughout the event.
For bookings over three hours, one of these breaks will normally be a longer meal break.
We always coordinate timings with your venue or planner to ensure breaks happen naturally during transitions, speeches or guest movement.
What time do you arrive to set up?
How does song selection work and can we choose our own songs?
Absolutely. You are welcome to create your own playlist from our repertoire, or we can suggest a well-balanced selection to suit the atmosphere of your event.
We usually finalise song choices around 21 days before the event, so there is plenty of time to decide.
For wedding ceremonies, couples typically choose one piece for the bridal entrance, one or two songs for the signing of the register and one piece for the exit.
Can you learn a special song request for us?
Do you play Bridgerton-style music and modern songs, or only classical?
Is your full repertoire available across all ensemble sizes?
Yes — our repertoire is available across all ensemble sizes, including solo violin, duo, string trio, quartet and 6-piece ensemble.
Each arrangement is specifically adapted for the ensemble performing it, ensuring the music sounds natural and balanced regardless of line-up.
Some pieces naturally sound larger and more dramatic with additional musicians, while a trio offers a more intimate and elegant feel that suits many weddings beautifully.
What do you need from the venue on the day?
We simply require three armless chairs and approximately 2.5 x 2 metres of clear performance space. We bring everything else ourselves.
We are fully self-contained and will confirm all logistical details with you before the event.
Can your string trio perform outdoors?
Yes — we regularly perform outdoors at weddings and events across London, the UK and internationally.
To protect our instruments, suitable cover such as a gazebo or covered structure is required to shield against direct sunlight, wind and rain. Trees alone are not considered sufficient shelter.
We also ask that an indoor backup option is available in case weather conditions become unsuitable.
Do you have Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?
Do you perform outside London, and are there any travel costs?
Yes — although we are based in London, we regularly perform across the UK and internationally, including destination weddings throughout Europe and the Middle East.
Travel costs for events outside London will be clearly included within your personalised quote. For international bookings, any required accommodation and travel arrangements will also be discussed in advance.
We are highly experienced in travelling with instruments and coordinating destination events smoothly.
What happens if I need to cancel or postpone my booking?
Deposits are non-refundable in all circumstances.
Cancellations made more than 21 days before the event will not incur any further charges beyond the deposit already paid. For cancellations within 21 days of the event, the full balance remains payable, including any pre-booked travel or accommodation costs.
In the event of Force Majeure circumstances such as extreme weather, government restrictions or major transport disruption, we will always work with you to find the best possible solution within the terms of your booking agreement.
